Dear former students, This page is a work in progress! If you have visited or written to us recently and your letter or picture isn't up yet, it is coming soon! If you have any questions, don't hesitate to contact us.

Former Student Joe P was with COPE in 91/92. He recently visited to lend his insights on COPE, education, and choosing a path for a video clip we will eventually use for incoming COPE students. Joe is now a successful audio buff with a young family of his own. He recently completed an intenisve year-long audio program in Orlando. Joe says he struggled to find his own "non-traditional" path to success and cites coming to COPE and meeting Nate Reid as a turning point in his life.

.

Former Student Heather M was with COPE in 2003/04. She comes back to visit periodically and has continued to make noticeable improvements every time we see her. Heather has always been bright, witty and an avid reader. She has grown into a well rounded young woman who has recently completed training through Washtenaw Community College as a nurse's aide and is applying to the University of Michigan Nursing Program. Heather is currently looking for work as a nurse's aide.

Former Student Jessie H came by to let us know how well she is doing. Jessie graduated in 2006 and is now in a great job and smiling from ear to ear.

Former Student Max H visited with news that he will be a father soon. By the looks of this smile, he sure seems excited.

Former Student Cliff B wrote: I am a former student of COPE. I went to COPE when it was on Platt Rd. If Nate is still around he would know who I am. Here are some pictures of me now. If you could make sure Nate gets these pictures. I owe a lot to him and the program. You are a vital resource for the children of Washtenaw county. At times I hated coming to COPE. But I now can look back and say if it weren't for the love you all had for us kids. Where would we be today. Well I hope the program lasts forever. You all do a good job. A thankless job. I am glad to have been part of this program. It sure taught me a lot about life and lifes challenges. Thanks Nate for all those things you gave me back then. I use a lot of your teachings. For now I am a teacher here on this rez. I teach woodshop. Who would have known..... As we say here on the rez Baamaapii-means till next time- a little teaching(we never say
goodbye-for we believe we will always see each other again some day).

Former student Drew A stopped by on leave from the Army. Drew worked very hard at COPE, and received his diploma from his home school. He went on to join the Army and wants to be a career man, as he comes from a military family. We're thrilled to get letters and visits from Drew.

COPE Alumni - We are looking for you!

COPE is interested in building communications with our former students. We'd like to keep in contact with alumni for several reasons, including staff interest, sharing successes with the public, and eventually to build a support network amongst former students. If you are a former COPE student, or know of someone who is, please contact us at info@cope1.org. You will NEVER be asked to share information that you don't want to. Thanks for joining our efforts to create successful opportunities for the next generation.

Recognize these folks? Mr. Reid, Ms. Silverman, and Mr. Sharkey are still working hard for our youth. Stop by and visit them!
